Italian Wines: Red

Nebbiolo
 

From the omonymous vine this is a red that when young has a ruby colour. Ageing, it becomes a garnet red. The scent, very delicate at the beginning, gains strength with time and sharpening. The flavour is dry, velvet and harmonious.

Gastronomic coupling:
sausages, red, boiled and stewed meat, cheese.
 


Barbera Piemonte
 

From the omonymous vine, Barbera is together with Barolo the most classic wine from the Italian region of Piedmont.  It has an intense and lively red  colour and a winy scent that is reflected in its ample, well-balanced and  full-bodied taste.

Gastronomic coupling:
Ideal full-meal wine.
 


Barolo
 

Barolo is obtained from the Nebbiolo  vines that are cultivated in a few and marked wineries in the commune of Barolo and the area nearby. The colour is garnet red colour and acquires orange  riflections when ageing.  It has an ample and elegant bouquet and a full and rightly velvet taste.

Gastronomic coupling:
roasts, game, bourguignonne, hard paste cheeses.
 
 


Barbaresco

A fine and scented wine, born from selected variaties of Nebbiolo vines cultivated in the area of the commune of Barbaresco.
Aged in oaken butts  this wine has a bright garnet red colour  and an extraordinarily elegant scent. The taste is full,  smooth and harmonious.

Gastronomic coupling:
Grilled red meat, game, roasts, cheese.
 
  


Roero

The hills were this wine is produced lie near Alba, separated from the Langhe by the plain of the river Tanaro. The wine is born from the Nebbiolo vines cultivated in these narrow areas. The colour is ruby red, the scent is delicate and fruity, the taste is dry and full, velvety and harmonious. The wine can be kept in the bottle for up to 6 years after the vintage.

Gastronomic coupling:
when young  it is a full-meal wine; ageing, it is better suited for red meat dishes and cheeses of average seasoning.
