The famous fountain, so-called del
Gigante (of the Giant), is one of the most beautiful of the XVI century,
was designed by T.Laureti; the bronzemaid statues (Neptune with the trident
in the act of placate the waves; puttos ans sirens) are the work of the
Giambologna (1566), perhaps his masterpiece.
This XII century palace is called
after the name of Enzo, son of Federico II, who was kept imprisoned here
until his death, after he was captured at Fossalta in 1249.
This embattled palace is
situated in front of the City Hall building, while in the middle of the
square between the two building there is Neputune's
